The Town of Clarens and Church in QwaQwa at the Phuthaditjhaba Branch

We had heard about a quaint Swiss town called Clarens that is located near the country of Lesotho
and the Drakensburg Mountains.  It isn't quite Swiss, but it was quaint and beautiful.
Wherever you go, you will always see the local woman carrying things on their heads and babies
on their backs.

They had old cars and old shops that sold antiques and fudge.

We stayed in a small B&B.  The view from the front was of the town square
where residents and tourists would gather during the day.

The view from the other side of the B&B looked out over the valley towards
the mountains with hot air balloon rides in the early morning.

Because we were high in the mountains and it was still early spring, we were
very happy to have a fireplace in our room to warm us up each night.

On Sunday we drove about an hour to the town of QwaQwa and watched the Saturday
morning session of General Conference.  We were able to see most of it until they
experienced the typcial African technical difficulties.  The kids in the branch just
wanted to hug and kiss us.  Chuck did his magic trick of making a coin disappear, but the kids were not fooled.  The little girl in the blue jean jacket grabbed the coin and ran to the local tuck shop to buy candy for her brother and sisters.  We had a good laugh that Chuck made it possible for these
innocent little kids to break the Sabbath day.  The kids in Africa are the best!
